What Sets Us Apart

We have a variety of effective strategies to make your visit positive and pain-free:

  • listening to music through headphones to block out unwanted sounds
  • premedication with a tranquilizer to alleviate feelings of apprehension before treatment
  • nitrous oxide to enhance relaxation during treatment

You'll be glad you chose us as partners in your dental health program.

The dentist-patient relationship is just that -- a relationship mutually involving you and your dentist. We welcome your taking an active role.

You can overcome thinking of yourself as a passive recipient of treatment. Start by sharing your feelings with us. By bringing your concerns out into the open, we can address them and you can gain control of them. You'll be glad you did and you'll come away smiling.

Initial Oral Examination

Your initial oral examination includes a visual examination, charting, periodontal probing, diagnosis and treatment recommendations. We will also take x-rays, which includes the panoramic x-ray for proper diagnosis of the anterior (front) and posterior (back) teeth as well as the bite-wing x-ray series for proper diagnosis of proximal decay of posterior teeth.

Implants

Dental Implants are the closest prosthetic to natural teeth and can replace single teeth or full dentures. Aesthetically, dental implants blend seamlessly with your natural teeth and re-create your beautiful smile. A dental implant is a titanium tooth root that takes the place of a natural tooth root and is equally as strong. The titanium tooth root is surgically implanted in your jawbone; your body’s bone tissue naturally fuses with the titanium and creates a reliable prosthetic tooth root. The doctor will explain the procedure thoroughly to you so that you will make an informed decision. We also are able to use implants to support Dentures and Partial Dentures.

Periodontics

Over 75% of Americans age 35 and over have some form of gum disease, a result of poor dental hygiene and the subsequent build-up of plaque. In its earliest stage, your gums might swell and bleed easily. At its worst, you might lose your teeth. So, if you want to keep your teeth, you must take care of your gums. The good news is that gum disease is preventable in most cases. Attention to everyday oral hygiene (brushing and flossing), coupled with professional cleanings twice a year, could be all that’s needed to prevent and actually reverse the early stage of gum disease. If you have gum disease, Drs. Kramer and Kuhn will identify it during your exam and recommend the best treatment for the level of severity.

Endodontics

Endodontics deals with diseases of the tissue, blood vessels, and nerves inside the tooth. The most common endodontic treatment is called a “root canal,” a procedure used to remove infected tissue and refill the nerve canal inside the tooth. A root canal allows you to retain your natural tooth while eliminating the infection.

Dental Sealants

Thanks to fluoride, dental sealants and better dental habits, fifty percent of school-age children now have no cavities. Drs. Kramer and Kuhn provide quality, effective dental sealants for your children’s teeth that will protect them from the normal causes of cavities.

Preventive Care Service

Early detection is the key to avoiding costly and painful dental treatment. Prevention begins with the control of plaque and calculus, the main cause of decay and periodontal disease. In fact, the major cause of tooth loss in adults is periodontal disease, which is known as the silent killer of teeth because most patients feel no symptoms until it’s too late. With regular dental visits, we can treat gum disease at an early stage, before it gets out of hand.

Cosmetic Dentistry

With cosmetic dentistry, we can make your smile light up a room when you enter. Through different procedures, we’ll create that beautiful smile you’ve been dreaming of. With cosmetic tooth whitening, composite bonding, porcelain veneers, crowns and bridges, we can change an average smile into a brilliant one that warms a room. For more information on cosmetic dentistry, or any other dental procedure, be sure to ask us at your next visit.

Mini-Smile Makeovers

Creating a beautiful smile doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll need a mouth full of porcelain veneers. Often, Drs. Kramer and Kuhn can rejuvenate a smile by focusing on a few problem teeth using minimally invasive and less costly dental procedures such as composite bonding in combination with cosmetic whitening. Creating a major transformation while preserving more natural tooth structure for a less money than you ever thought.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are plates of porcelain that are bonded on the front surface of the anterior teeth. Although they are very thin, veneers become very strong once bonded to the tooth. Porcelain veneers are an excellent choice for covering cracked, chipped, or discolored teeth. Because of their natural appearance, porcelain veneers can make a very pleasing looking improvement to your smile. Veneers have advantages over other treatments – often, little or no anesthesia is required for the procedure and little or no tooth structure needs to be removed.

Crowns & Bridges

A crown is a prosthetic tooth that is used to restore teeth where the structure is too weakened or damaged to accept amalgam or dental composite fillings. Dental technology has come a long way to improve the look of crowns. Compared to the old style bridges, these works of art are exceptionally well fitting and very natural looking. Using a bridge or crown with a metal base covered with porcelain or using all porcelain material eliminates the dark edges at the gum line that were visible with the old style bridges and crowns.

Full & Partial Dentures

Dentures can take the place of missing natural teeth. Dentures allow patients to chew and speak more easily while improving their appearance and boosting self-confidence. Full dentures are used when all of a patient’s teeth need to be replaced. Partial dentures are used when only a few teeth are missing. In either case, dentures can help you look and feel your best. Ask Drs. Kramer and Kuhn about metal-free flexible partials.

Composite Bonding

A less expensive and less invasive remedy than crowns or veneers, composite bonding is an effective technique used to improve the appearance of your teeth. Bonding is ideal for masking teeth that are chipped, cracked, stained or injured teeth or reducing gaps between teeth. During the procedure, a delicate layer of plastic is painted onto the damaged teeth, adding strength and making them virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.

Composite bonding is a quick process, typically lasting less than an hour. Compared to veneers or crowns, it is a popular choice because it does not reduce the tooth’s original structure. Composite bonding is also relatively inexpensive. And finally, composite resins are available in many different shades. The shade can be chosen to match the natural color of the original tooth.

In-Office Tray Whitening

Over time, teeth can lose their brightness and become discolored from drinking coffee, smoking cigarettes and from the inevitable process of aging. No matter what age you are, dazzling, bright white teeth will transform your appearance and makes you look more attractive and feel more confident. Drs. Kramer and Kuhn use the convenient “In-Office Tray Whitening” technique. Developed from custom-fitted models of your teeth, the whitening trays are then placed in your mouth to give brighter, whiter teeth in one visit.

Anxiety-free Dentistry

If going to the dentist is stressful for you, we can ease your anxiety with comfortable methods such as nitrous oxide (laughing gas). When your procedure is over, you will feel completely clear headed and ready to drive your car.

Mouth Guards

Mouth guards are often used to protect your child’s teeth from injury due to teeth grinding and during sports. The guard usually covers the upper teeth; however, if your child wears braces or another fixed dental appliance on his lower jaw, Drs. Kramer and Kuhn may suggest a mouth protector for these teeth, too.

Dental Services for Children

We advise that you bring your child in between 24 and 36 months of age for their first dental visit. The examination will make sure that their teeth are healthy and that, as parents, you have the best information about oral hygiene and diet to prevent tooth decay. For older children, we provide a dental examination, tooth cleaning, fluoride treatment, and x-rays when needed.

Please be assured that our dental staff is very experienced with young patients, and we will always do our best to calm their fears, make them feel comfortable and give them a pleasant dental experience.

Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a form of dentistry that specializes in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. These problems are classified as malocclusion, which means a bad bite. Drs. Kramer and Kuhn are skilled in the design, application and control of corrective appliances, also known as braces, to bring teeth, lips and jaws into proper alignment to achieve facial balance.

It is always less expensive to correct a problem when the patient is younger than to wait for the problem to become more serious in the future.

Benefits of early orthodontic treatment include:

  • Improve profile, smile, and self-esteem
  • Correct harmful habits, such as thumb-sucking and tongue thrusting
  • Develop the arches and make more room for the tongue
  • Improved speech
  • Reduction of time in fixed braces, frequently eliminating the need for extracting permanent teeth
  • Increases nasal breathing, which improves health
  • Eliminates airway constriction
  • Creates beautiful broad smiles by developing the arches
  • Eliminates grinding of teeth at night
  • Prevents headaches and earaches

Adult Orthodontics

You are never too old to improve your smile. Drs. Kramer and Kuhn also treats adults for a wide variety of conditions, from overbites to underbites. Approximately 25 percent of today’s orthodontic patients are adults. Teeth can be moved at any age, and therefore more adults are proceeding with orthodontic treatment to achieve straight teeth, a beautiful, and healthy jaw joints. Many adults prefer the clear or gold braces, which are more esthetically pleasing than the standard metal braces.

No two smiles are alike, and therefore no two orthodontic treatment programs are either. Typically, active treatment times range from one to two years and vary with the degree of tooth movement and the severity of the problem.

Invisible Braces

Invisible braces that we provide–such as Invisalign–straighten your teeth without the need for uncomfortable and unsightly metal wires and brackets. While braces produce beautiful results, many patients never wear them for fear of looking unattractive or having many cavities at the end of the treatment. Invisalign is an alternative way to produce results—and is nearly invisible. By using a series of clear, removable aligners, Invisalign straightens your teeth right before your eyes. Change them about every two weeks, and your teeth will move—little by little, week by week—until they have moved to the final position your dentist has prescribed.
